Ben Williams (creator of world-wide best seller 'Re-Labelled') and Chris Webb (creator of the highly popular 'Return of the Big Flap' are two of the UK magic scene's finest creators! Each of them has an exceptional talent for dreaming up modern, off-beat, commercial stunners that leave audiences utterly baffled! With 'Williams & Webb vol.1' they have teamed up and turned out a fantastic DVD release featuring EIGHT original creations that will leave you begging for more! The thinking behind this new material is just incredible and many of these effects could have been released individually as single trick products.

The Effects

SERIAL

You display a deck of cards which has a variety of numbers and letters written on the backs of the cards - they are genuinely random and all the cards are shown to be different. Your spectators FREELY THINK of ANY three cards from the spread deck. Placed next to each other, the random digits on the back combine to form a serial number which accurately matches the serial number on a bill that has been in full view throughout! This will FOOL YOU BADLY!

MARKED
You display two cards - a Joker and a Four of Diamonds - each of which has a large black cross of electrical tape across its face. Your spectator holds the Four between his palms. You then take the Joker and begin to change it, corner by corner, into the Four! When the transformation is complete, your spectator now finds the Joker between his palms! Chris will show you how to make the ingenious gimmicks that make this visual feast of magic practically self working!

POCKET
First a selected card vanishes from the deck and appears in your pocket - a classic of magic! Then you tear a corner off the card and do it again - this time the card appears in their pocket! Each time, the card is shown to be completely gone from the deck. A well structured routine that is easy to do but will aabsolutely FLOOR lay people!

ONE BY ONE
A very cool gimmicked card that allows for the visual rise of an out-jogged card from the bottom of the deck, right up to the top.

SMUDGE
You freely show a Coca-Cola bottle (or any soft drink you choose) and hand it to a spectator who then chooses a card. You then take the Coke bottle back and slowly begin to smudge the ink on the label causing it to morph into the name of the selected card! This is an AWESOME modern revelation - the disfigured label looks GREAT and can be handed out and examined or even kept by the spectator!

UP
As an explanation of how Ambitious Card works - you display a blank card with an 'up' button on it. When it is 'pressed' you see the card visually rise up the edge of the deck before finally popping into view on top of the deck! An awesomely visual addition to any ACR!

LOYALTY
Use voodoo to weirdly warp any plastic card in your wallet! Several variations are taught including one where you push your thumb right into the card and another where you fuze a borrowed coin right into the card!

TAB
A killer opening effect! You accidentally tear one of the tabs off of your card case so, you magically re-attach it...HALF WAY DOWN THE SIDE OF THE BOX - a good 2 inches away from where it should be! You then hand this amazing impossible object to your spectators to examine! Talk about off-beat? This effect is THE very definition of the term!

If you like off-beat, commercial magic that YOU WILL ACTUALLY USE! Look no further than 'Williams & Web' vol.1.

Repertoire Volume 2 is quite unsurprisingly my second instalment of my Repertoire series. Expect more workable routines that suit pretty much any environment. Here is a list of the effects that will be unleashed!

POPOMOWA - PoPoMoWa stands for pocket, pocket, mouth, wallet. This is a face paced misdirectional card routine where the spectator’s signed card is first found in your… well you get the idea! Optional extras will be suggested for different routining.

SANDWICH FEAST - This is a sandwich routine that each phase you are one step ahead of them. 3 cards are selected and lost back in the pack. Two kings then find them each separately. This routine is also built to have as much happen in the spectator’s hands as possible.

SPECTATOR LOCATER - This is another multi selection routine. Two cards are selected and lost back into the deck. A third card is selected to be the spectator locater card. This is vanished from the top of the deck in the spectators hands. The deck is spread and the two cards surrounding the spectator locater card are the first and second selections.

COLD AND LONELY - Cold and Lonely is my take on the Anniversary Waltz routine. A card is selected from a red deck and signed across its back, this is placed face up in the spectator’s palms. Another card is selected and is signed across its face. When the two touch you show you now have their signature on the back! The original selection however has been left alone so long it feels all cold and lonely and when turned over it has a blue back!

PEEK DRIBBLE SELECTION - This is a simple peek you can use when having the cards dribbled for a selection.

PEEK RIFFLE KEY CARD - This is a use of a peek I had come up with independently but upon further research I found it to have been in print previously in the, you guessed it Royal Road to Card Magic! Bummer, they just pipped me to the post! I explain a nice workers routine using the peek to peek a key card.

CARD TO SPECTATOR'S WALLET - This is an interesting idea or concept I have played around with. It is a mystery card routine that culminates in you pulling the spectator’s signed card from their wallet. This routine works so well sometimes that I have actually left the signed selection in their wallet for them to discover later!

ON BACK - This is exactly what it sounds like, it is a method for getting your spectator's signed card stuck to their back, this also works well with business cards!

THREE FREE RIDES - 3 Free Rides is a multi selection effect where you proceed to find three spectators cards. These then vanish from the top of the deck and are found in the spectator’s pocket.

SLEIGHTLY CONFUSED (Signed and Unsigned) - Sleightly Confused is a TnR routine in which you never see the card being ripped. A signed selection (signed across its back), is lost in the deck and the deck is then placed back into the box which the spectator holds onto. The magician then mimes tearing the card and pieces of a playing card are produced from thin air that match the spectator’s selection. These are then handed to the spectator who squeezes onto them when their hand is opened the pieces are healed, the card is unfolded and the spectator’s signature is found on the back.

SIGNED AND DATED - Signed and Dated is another off the wall TnR effect similar to Sleightly Confused but crazily enough the pieces of a selection are produced invisible then dusted off where they then become visible? Eh? I know! Each piece becomes visible when it is healed back to the card. after every production and appearance the card is shown both back and front. There is a nice kicker ending once the card is restored.

This is the first installment of my repertoire series. Repertoire is exactly what it sounds like, my working repertoire. These are the effects I use all the time, they are practical and have a great impact on the spectators.

Here is a list of effects and descriptions:

HEARTLESS - The pips from a selected card appear in a burst of flames, leaving the spectators card heartless.

D.B.I.B. - This is an invisible/brainwave type effect in which any named card is shown to have a different coloured back to the rest of the deck. No Rough and Smooth.

IMITATE 1.0 - 1.2 - 1.3 - These are a selection of transposition effects between a coin and a piece of a spectator's selected card.

YOUR CARD MY MOUTH - My take on the card to mouth plot with a twist. With built in misdirection for the load making it w winner for every situation.

STEAL - This is my handling on an old use of a card box. Allowing for an extremely fair selection and shuffling process where the spectator does 99% of the handling of the cards and an equally fair replacement into the card box yet at any moment you can steal the card into your possesion, this opens up the doors for some iron clad test conditions handlings with maximum magic effect as a payoff.

I DUB THEE - This is one of the best mentalism effects I perform with cards. A specator writes down the name of someone close to them and someone else selects a card. Inside your wallet you have an envelope, inside that is a single playing card with a different back design to the deck you are working with. It is the spectator's selected card, on the back of the card there is a name written, the freely thought of name.

I DUB THEE MENTAL - This is my handling for I Dub Thee that doesn't require a deck of playing cards, this is a routine of principles that culminates in a prediction being found in your wallet with a freely chosen item and name predicted. I have lots of ideas to make this a truely memorable and AMAZINGLY ACCURATE predcition.

WATCH MY PREDICTIONS - In this routine you manage to predict a spectator's selection and to prove it you show you had a corner from a duplicate selection taped to the back of your watch-face. When asked if you can repeat this feat a second selection is selected and again you prove it to be taped to the back of your watch-face. Of course this is 100% examinable the tape won't peel off.

YOUR CARD - This effect is as direct as it is amazing for lay people. It is a commercial piece of magic that is perfect for customizing to any situation. A selected card is signed and replaced in the centre of the deck. Some words are written on a piece of paper which is lit and bursts into flames. The deck is spread and one card has changed colour and has the same words written across its back in big black letters. It is turned over and it is the signed card.

CHAIN 1.0 - 1.2 - This is a signed linking card effect. Two cards are selected and signed, these can be free selections. These have the centres torn from them and they are linked together. This isn't an illusion of a link, they are linked like a chainlink. These are unlinked and the card rings can be handed out and inspected or even kept by the spectator. Chain 1.2 is the same effects but the signatures on both cards are seen before, during and after the effect occurs.

These are direct routines that you don't need to be a master card worker to pull off, but they are strong routines in any laypersons eyes.

Squished

Everybody has seen the machines where you insert a penny and then pay your fifty pence or quarter and then crank an arm around which forces the penny though a stamp that ‘squishes’ the penny with some sort of image, maybe the logo of the particular theme park or public attraction you are visiting at the time of coming across said machine.

Well now, with Squished you can perform this process for your spectators without the need to carry around your giant heavy squishing machine!

Within the basic effect a card is selected and a penny is borrowed. The penny is then squished between the performers bare hands and the coin is now revealed to be thin, flat, oblong and also have the image of the card ‘squished’ into it!

With Squished you receive a booklet with photos illustrating different routines and ways of squishing the pennies in performance, the booklet also teaches a couple of simple card forces should you not know any (this is so you can be performing squished in no time regardless of your skill level) In addition to the booklet you receive 4 squished pennies each with a different image squished on them, you have three different card values allowing you to perform a reveal with the squished penny. The fourth squished penny retains the image of the penny so it is like you have just squished it for fun!

Squished is fun and easy to perform and is enjoyable for the spectators, what more could you want!

FAQ’s

Is it easy to perform?

Yes, there are different ways to perform squished that are all taught in the booklet ranging from the sleight free handling to intermediate advanced handlings.

Do I need to force a card?

To perform the reveals, yes. But you can always perform squished with the penny coin, thus eliminating the use of a deck of cards. Alternatively if you are aware your spectator has freely selected the card you have on your squished penny (via a peek or just seeing it at the end of your routine) you can immediately perform the effect without the need to force the card.

Do I need a PK ring?

No, not at all, the main beginner’s version taught does require the use of a PK ring although there is an alternative method that is taught that is just as clean and easy to perform that doesn't require the need of a PK ring

TEAR-able Sessions

£7.99

TEAR-able Sessions is a compilation of 3 card effects that are all situated around the premise of a torn corner of a signed card.
Learn two routines centred around making the torn corner of a signed card appear anywhere you want, under your watch, in a spectator’s pocket, on the OTHER side of a window, the possibilities are endless.
Also learn how to restore the corner to a signed card with a routine so visual and simple you will have the perfect starter for your favourite ambitious card routine or your favourite signed card routine.

All of these routines have been tried and tested and have never failed to get great reactions, their simplicity in plot and handling combined make these routines perfect for your arsenal.

TEAR-ific - A spectator’s selection is marked by having a corner torn off and the torn card is also signed. The spectator holds onto his card as the magician takes the corner and eats it, no switches take place, it is the corner you tear off. A moment later when the spectator is satisfied the corner has been swallowed the magician reveals that the exact piece to the spectator’s signed card is now taped to the underside of his watch. Torn but not forgotten!

TEAR-ified - A spectator chooses a card this card is then marked by having the corner torn off AND being signed by the spectator. The performer then takes the torn corner and chews it up. The pulpy remain of this torn corner is then offered back to the spectator. When they make it clear they do not want it back the performer swallows the pulpy corner to get rid of it. Not to be bothered by this the performer strives on claiming that the spectator can still have their piece back, all that is needed is a bit of magic. The performer then takes the signed, torn card and lifts it up to his face where he blows on it to reveal the corner piece is now restored back onto the signed card.

TEAR-ibble - A spectator selects a card and it is signed. The signed card is then placed in between the spectator’s palms and held tightly. The performer asks if the spectator would be impressed if he managed to steal the card from between their hands. When told that the spectator would be impressed the performer has a go at trying to steal the signed card without the spectator feeling anything. Upon the third failed attempt the performer explains that he has been training for this and he simply must show something to try to impress the spectator. So, the performer suggests stealing some of the card and mimes ripping the corner off of the card. When the spectator opens their hand the signed card is indeed missing a corner. The spectator is told to turn around and the corner piece is stuck to the window behind him, on the outside.
